Hola! It's Pocoyo "Up, Up & Away With Balloons!"

This fun and colorful Pocoyo cake was commissioned by Lovvy for her little Nathaniel’s first birthday celebration sometime in March.

I wanted this cake to tell a story and not be just a cake with posing characters. The cake featured a sugar figure of Pocoyo sitting on some puffy clouds and holding on to his favorite balloon. As the story goes, poor Pocoyo is up in the clouds because his friend, the very Sleepy Bird, has fallen asleep while manning a bunch of colorful balloons and has allowed them to drift up into the clouds with Pocoyo! Oh dear…! Not that Pocoyo minded, judging from the smile on his happy face!

Pororo Cake With a Difference... The Winking Little Penguin And His Balancing Act!

This Pororo cake was commissioned by Melissa for her son Isaac's first birthday celebration. Melissa requested for a 3D sugar figurine of Pororo the Little Penguin, together with two of Isaac’s favorite toys at the moment, ball and drum. But she didn’t want Pororo to just stand still with a smiling expression on his face! She wanted a Pororo with a difference! A more animated character than the one she has seen on my previous Pororo cake.

So here he is… Happy and winking Pororo balancing on a ball!

The top tier cake resembles a toy drum, complemented with fondant drum sticks. The bottom tier cake was designed to coordinate with Isaac’s birthday party banner.

Dumbo With His "Gravity Defying Ears" Is The Star Of The Circus!

This circus cake featuring “Dumbo the Flying Elephant and His Friends” sugar art figurines was commissioned by Jeanie for her son Micah’s first birthday celebration in February. Jeanie gave me full reign over the design and so I set off to create a cake that will be the highlight of the occasion.

This was the most challenging 3D sugar art figurine that I have attempted so far… Dumbo standing on his hind legs, balancing on a ball and with his gravity defying ears stretching out horizontally, as if he is going to take flight any second. Also in the act are two of Dumbo’s flying buddies balancing on balls, the cigar smoking “Jim Crow” and his soul brother, “Straw Hat Crow”. Not to be missed is Dumbo’s best friend “Timothy Mouse” holding out a circus themed plaque with the birthday boy’s name on it.

To give the cake a vintage feel, I painted the scrolls on Micah’s name plaque and the tip of the circus flag pole with edible 24K gold.

Princess Aurora... The Sleeping Beauty Awakens!

This princess doll cake was commissioned by Diana for her daughter Calleigh's 7th birthday. Her head and upper body is entirely hand modeled from gumpaste (edible) whereas her skirt is fondant iced cake. She comes complete with gold tiara, golden blond hair, gold choker, butterfly fluttering in the palm of her hands and hand painted roses on her underskirt. I referred to pics of Disney’s Sleeping Beauty whilst working on her face and hair in order to make her resemble the real character.

Boing! Boing! Tigger Bounce!

Commissioned by Dorothy for her son Shane's first birthday is this Tigger cake featuring a 3D “Baby Tigger” sugar art figurine. I wanted this Tigger figurine to be unique for this cake so I challenged myself to make him appear to be bouncing (standing) on his tail, with his legs up. To complement the scene, I also made a 3D sugar tree topper with branches of royal icing piped leaves and Tigger’s favorite rubber tube swing hanging on one of the branches.

"Cars" Lightning McQueen!

Commissioned by Moreen for her two year old son Ayden's "Cars" birthday bash at Hyatt Saujana, this "Cars" themed cake features a 3D sugar art figurine of Lightning McQueen with hand painted details. To compliment the cake, there were also "Cars" themed cupcakes with road signs, checkers and sugar art faces of Lightning McQueen's friends.

Gummy Bear 'Gangnam Style' Cake!

This Gummy Bear cake is the second of two 'Gangnam Style' cakes commissioned by Rachel for the joint birthday celebration for her dad and her baby boy. For Dad, it was the PSY 'Gangnam Style' cake in black, blue and silver. For little Jace who turns one, it is this fun and colorful cake, featuring a 3D sugar art figurine of Jace's favorite Gummy Bear in the "Gangnam Style' dance pose.
